Running Society Munich Embraces Speed, Strength, and Community Spirit

Founded in January 2016 in the vibrant city of Munich, Running Society began as a modest initiative led by the energetic team of Magnus and Florian. Their early days saw more coaches than runners, braving all weather conditions with dedication and consistency. This foundation, built on perseverance and passion, was rooted in an earlier project involving Magnus along with Nicolas and Martin, laying the groundwork for what would become a thriving running community.

Run Fast Run Hard Run Often Mantra

At the heart of Running Society lies a simple yet powerful motto: Run fast, run hard, run often, run with us. This creed drives the crew’s philosophy, emphasizing both physical challenge and shared commitment. Training embraces variety and modern pacing concepts, moving beyond linear progressions to keep each session engaging. The emphasis is on pushing boundaries with diverse distances from 5 to 60 kilometres, ensuring every runner, from beginner to marathoner, finds a challenge that suits their level.

Building Connections Across Skill Levels

Today, Running Society is a large crew of approximately 800 runners who meet weekly in Munich’s ELBGYM Hofstatt. The atmosphere welcomes all skill levels, highlighting willpower over experience. Coaches Alexandra and Axel contribute expertise in motivation, team spirit, and triathlon disciplines, enriching the supportive culture. This community thrives on inclusion and encouragement, offering trial memberships to newcomers eager to test the waters without pressure.

Monday Night Runs At ELBGYM

Every Monday evening at 6.30 pm, the crew gathers at ELBGYM Hofstatt to embark on a training session lasting around 60 to 90 minutes. Runs combine intervals with short bodyweight workouts, ensuring no two sessions feel repetitive. The variety keeps runners engaged and motivated. Distances and paces vary, catering to the broad spectrum of members, while special events and private group runs further extend the crew’s activities beyond weekly meets.
